Tacx Driver Issues - ezusb.sys & Anchor chips etc etc here.

Problems with the USB driver for the Tacx Fortius & Imagic unit crop up on some computers. Basically, the computer can't figure out where the correct driver is.

Well, it's right here, from the Tacx Forum:

How to manually install the NEW Tacx i-magic driver

  • If the USB interface is not recognized Check to see if the USB cable is plugged in correctly. Its actually possible to force the USB cable into the Interface with the USB cable twisted 180°! After connecting the USB cable to the PC you should see a message saying ‘New Hardware found (Anchor Chips)’.
  • .

When the USB interface is connected to the PC while simultaneously connected to the electromagnetic break a problem can be caused with the driver. Always connect first the USB interface to the PC first & connect the black lan type cable that runs to the break unit after the PC has recognized the USB interface.

  • A new driver solution Download the following zip file http://www.xtraspace.nl/~ilink/download/i-Magic%20Inf.zip & extract the folder to an easy to find location (for example the desktop). If you do not have windows XP then you may need to download a copy of winzip if you do not already have it.

  • Update the driver in the following manner
  • Plug the i-magic USB interface into the computer.
  • Right click on MY COMPUTER – PROPERTIES – HARDWARE TAB – DEVICE MANAGER. Now look at the bottom of the list for ‘Universal Serial bus Controllers’ click this & locate the yellow ‘?’ . Now right click on the Yellow question mark & select ‘UPDATE DRIVER.

  • The UPDATE HARDWARE WIZARD will appear with two choices select the ‘INSTALL FROM A SPECIFIC LOCATION” (fig 2).
  • In the next dialogue box select to “MANUALY SEARCH FOR THE DRIVER” (fig.3) Now navigate to the folder that you have just downloaded & click next. The USB driver will now install

  • If you see the windows XP driver not windows certified dialogue box just click CONTINUE (fig.4). The drivers should now be installed with out problems & you can get on with some seriously fun training.
