Time to start thinking about your winter plan..

Tacx Cosmos Trainer

With the summer riding season winding down, it’s time to do a little planning about what to do when the weather turns bad. Depending on where you live, that could be very soon or still a few months off. At any rate, you need to have your equipment ready to go ahead of time, so that on that sooner-than-you-think dark & cold day, you can still get some quality chamois time in.

There are 2 types of goals for inside riding. The first are the Maintainers. They have worked hard to gain fitness throughout the summer season, and are looking to keep to control the amount of loss in the off season. Specific workouts in a logical schedule, combined with on the road riding if possible, allow you to be ready to have your best year in 2008. A great new trainer for this type of serious athlete is the Kurt Kinetic Rock and Roll Road Machine which utilizes a stable but flexible base that allows a natural side to side motion, while training the rider to pedal more smoothly to improve efficiency. Efficient pedaling is like getting better gas mileage in your car: go farther with the same energy.

The second type are the Improvers. These are people who view riding a trainer as one component of an overall fitness regime that may include many other sports, in an attempt to gain a higher overall health. The trainer for them is a home based gym that includes cycling. The Tacx Flow trainer is an excellent choice for this rider, as it has a simple to use stand alone computer that tracks calorie expenditure along with power, speed, distance and time.

Regardless of what you category you fit in, you need good quality equipment. We are here to help, don’t hesitate to contact us if you need help selecting the right trainer for you.
